Join us for a new play reading! The 2026 Dee Silver, M.D. Commission is a joint project with Cygnet Theatre and the Iowa Playwrights Workshop.
This commission aims to engage a playwright in crafting a play that offers fresh perspectives on our current times. We seek stories that illuminate moments of strength and hope, aiming to enrich the national theatrical repertoire with narratives that foster empathy and connection.
A free public reading of Songs for the Anthropocene by Christopher Lysik will take place on January 17, 2026 in the Dottie Studio Theater at 7pm at Cygnet Theatre. Attendance is free but reservations are required.

Playwright
CHRISTOPHER LYSIK
Christopher Lysik is a New England boy who writes plays, music, and plays w/ music. He is a recipient of the Kennedy Center’s National Playwriting Award (American Rusałki) and Jean Kennedy Smith Award (Pierogi Play). He has been a finalist for SPACE on Ryder Farm and the INKubator New Play Program, semifinalist for the O’Neill National Music Theater Conference and Inkslinger Playwriting Contest, and held the Marcus Bach and Dee Silver MD Fellowships at the University of Iowa. Additionally, Christopher’s work has been supported by New Harmony Project, the O’Neill, KCACTF, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Fresh Ground Pepper, Wildacres, and RI Youth Theatre, among other organizations. He is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild, and an even prouder cancer survivor. MFA: Iowa Playwrights Workshop. BFA: Rutgers/Mason Gross (Acting).
